What do we do when the end-of-year examinations are over and the school holidays are here? An EXCURSION to Gardens by the Bay with the volunteers from Facebook Singapore!
During the 2017 December school holidays, the APAC gaming team from Facebook Singapore brought 30 children from our U_SPACE drop-in programme and our Tuition with Love (Tampines North) programme out to Gardens by the Bay for a day of exploration and fun! Each of the children was paired with a team member from the gaming team and they went exploring together! They learnt about the different fauna and flora in the Flower Dome, experienced the majesty of the tallest indoor waterfall and saw the full effects of climate change on our planet in the exhibition in the Cloud Dome. As this excursion was also in conjunction with Gardens by the Bay’s “Gift of Gardens” programme, our children also met up with Santa Claus!
After an amazing time spent exploring the domes of Gardens by the Bay, it was time for lunch! The Facebook team treated our children to a buffet lunch at New Rasa. The folks at New Rasa even taught our children how to make Rojak and they made their very own! The team also had a challenge for our children, to build the tallest tower with a marshmallow right at the top, using only spaghetti, strings and masking tape. Soon, the restaurant was brimming with laughter and ingenuity as they worked together with the Facebook team to build the tallest and most stable structure they could!
A BIG thank you to the APAC Gaming team at Facebook Singapore for the unforgettable day of fun and discovery! Also, thank you to Gardens by the Bay for providing us with the opportunity to visit and learn so much more about our world!
