Home with Love Programme

As we look back over the past few months, Hope Centre is thankful that we responded to the call for community-based premises to provide temporary shelter for the homeless through our Home with Love programme.

In April 2020, Singapore went through 2 months of circuit breaker as an effort to minimise the spread of COVID19 pandemic. When the restrictions were tightened further, all short-term visitors were banned from entering Singapore. This has affected many foreigners who travel back and forth for work. Many chose to remain in Singapore to retain their jobs and were separated from their family overseas. Some were provided with a place to stay by their employers, but others were not so fortunate and did not have a roof over their head.

Here at Hope Centre, we saw the need to reach out to these people and rose to the occasion to open up our premises to serve the community. In a matter of days, we launched the ‘Home with Love’ initiative and began providing shelters to those in need. We are so thankful for the overwhelming outpouring of support and donations we’ve received from the public and community partners.

In the span of four months, Hope Centre housed a total of 34 individuals within our premises. By the end of August, all stayers had moved out to their new housing accommodation. Through the months, our staff and stayers had forged strong bonds with one another and made many memories together.

By the grace and providence of God, Hope Centre is grateful to make a difference in every stayers’ lives and make a positive impact in the community that would go down in history.

The stayers are thankful for the help received and some of them would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to all our staff, partners, donors and volunteers who contributed to our Home with Love programme!

Thank you for joining us in making a difference together in this tough season!

The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making things better.
